Tired of throwing out rotten bananas? It happens to all of us. We buy bananas thinking we'll eat them, and then in a few days they're brown! Even though bananas aren't expensive, throwing them out time and time again eventually adds up, and you wind up wasting a lot of money. Beofre they become unedible, throw them in the freezer. The skin will turn brown, yes, but they are still perfectly fine to eat. When you defrost them, they will be mushy. Here are a few things you can do with those bananas.

  1. Bake a banana cake! Paula Deen has a great recipe for a Banana Nut Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. Click Here to view that recipe!
  2. Make a Strawberry/Banana Smoothie! Simply throw some bananas and strawberries (as many as you want to taste) in a blender with yogurt (I just dump until I have my own deired amount) and either apple or orange juice. The more juice you add, the more runny it will be. The less juice you add, the thicker it will be. You can add ice chips if you want as well.
  3. Bake Banana Bread! Click Here to view Emril Lagasse's recipe!
  4. Make Banana Ice Cream. Click Here for Alton Brown's recipe.

You have a point here. I do not like to through food away no matter what it costs. I have a banana ice cream recipe that would also make good use of the rotting bananas. Let me search for it and I’ll get back to you.
