This article is to explain how to grease a Polaris Sportsman 4Wheeler. The one shown in the picture is a 2011 Polaris Sportsman 800 Twin, but all Sportsman models are relatively the same.

Start by locating your grease fittings. There is one on the inside of each tire, totalling 4. Your four wheeler may have more depending on the year and model. See Picture for what a grease fitting looks like so you can check the rest of your 4wheeler.

Once you've located all grease fittings, get your grease gun and put the tip of the grease gun over the grease fitting. I usually give it 3-4 pumps, depending on how long it's been since the 4wheeler's been last greased. If the grease starts coming out of the fitting, there is plenty in there. Then, simply go onto the next fitting until all fittings have been greased. Wipe off any excess with an old rag, and if you're really clean, you can clean the outside of your grease gun with any type of cleaner such as carb cleaner, KO Dirt blaster, or brake parts cleaner.

The pictures on this page show the location of 2 of the grease fittings.

I'm a female and now I don't have to rely on my boyfriend to do this for me, I can't do it myself! Hopefully this is encouragement for other females to learn this too!

It really depends on how much you ride it. If you're out for a full day of riding, i'd grease it at the end of the day. If you only go for short rides here and there, i'd grease every 4 or 5 times. It's never bad to overgrease.
